Footnotes Imhotep was an Egyptian architect, priest, scribe and public official, who was active under Pharaoh Zoser of the Third Dynasty, who built the Step Pyramid at Saqqara. He was one of the two non-royal figures who became deified after death and continued to be worshipped for at least three centuries down to the 26th Dynasty. The other was Amenhotep, son of Hapu, an Egyptian architect, priest, scribe and public official, who was active under Pharaoh Amenhotep III of the 18th Dynasty.
