(Folio) 37.2x28 cm (15x11"), full thick red levant morocco, spine lettered in gilt, raised bands, gilt-ruled turn-ins, marbled endpapers, all edges gilt. No. 166 of 500 copies. First Edition. An extensive and insightful overview of English bookbinding over a span of about 700 years. The striking color plates are printed in facsimile by W. Griggs, Chromo-lithographer to Her Majesty the Queen. Due to the size and/or weight of this lot extra shipping charges may apply. Lot Amendments Condition: Some minor rubbing to joints and extremities, spine head pulled, some minor discoloration to leather; one protective interleaf detached, a few chipped or torn; free endpapers with marginal offset from the turn-ins; bookplate on front flyleaf; very good, an impressive production.
