FAT FREDDY'S CAT. Original Art from The Adventures of Fat Freddy's Cat No. 1 Author: [Original Comic Art] Shelton, Gilbert Place: Publisher: Date: [c.1970] Description: Very fine condition. Light shadow to margins; two small spots to first panel; presentation inscription not by the artist. Ink and white-out on bristol, image area approx. 2.5" x 13.5". Signed by Shelton and dated 1991. Original place and date of publication unknown, but first panel of strip has 1970 copyright notice. Seven-panel strip, original publication date unknown, reprinted in The Adventures of Fat Freddy's Cat #1 (1977). Fat Freddy's Cat only appears in the title panel. The rest of the strip features his chief antagonists, the horde of roaches and mice that occupy the Freak Brothers' stink pad. Original Fat Freddy's Cat artwork almost never hits the market. Mr. Synchef is known for his collection of counterculture ephemera of the 1960s and '70s (see Collectors Weekly, Oct. 31, 2003: "Extraordinary Collection of Counterculture Literature Up for Auction"). PBA Grading Guarantee: Any individual comic book lot (not group lots) graded by PBA is guaranteed to match CGC grading. If the buyer chooses to have the comic CGC certified and that certification is lower than PBA’s, the lot may be returned for a full refund of the sales price (hammer price plus buyer’s premium). See terms and conditions for details. Consignments Accepted for PBA's Next Comic Book Auction. Golden Age, Silver Age, Pre-Code, Original Art, Interesting Ephemera Sought.
