New York: Random House, 1957. 8vo. Original deep orange cloth in dust jacket. Condition: tanning to gutters; very ligh shelfwear along bottom edge; jacket rear panel lightly soiled, rubbing at jacket corners. Provenance: Ruth Ford's copy (presentation from the author). first edition, inscribed by faulkner to fellow mississippian ruth ford. "To Ruth Ford/ from/ Bill Faulkner/ (See what you can do with this) Oxford 9 October 1959" A Mississippi native and sister of American surrealist Charles Henri Ford , model/actress Ruth Ford knew Faulkner when she attended the University of Mississippi, prior to making the journey west to Hollywood. Ford adapted Faulkner's Requiem for a Nun into a stage play. Apparently, there was the possibility of her trying her hand again here. Peterson A47.1C
