Federico ZuccaroSant' Angelo in Vado, Marches 1540/42 - 1609 AnconaRecto and Verso: Studies for The Canonization of St. Hyacinth by Clement VIII Pen and brown ink and gray wash over black chalk (recto and verso);bears old attribution and numbering in brown ink, lower right, in Dezallier d'Argenville's hand: 69, F. Zuccaro and verso: 70174 by 250 mm; 6 3/4 by 10 inCondition reportHinge mounted to a modern cream mount. There are two areas of light brown staining to the centre of the upper and lower edge, visible both recto and verso, due to the remains of old adhesive tape to the verso. There is an old vertical crease to the centre of the sheet (probably a hanging line), only visible under strong raking light. There is a small hole to the right of Clement VIII's head (recto) and a small gray stain to the same area. There is evidence of some minor surface dirt throughout, however the combination of media remains in predominantly very good condition. Sold unframed.
