It was a great slapping match all around..."; Autograph letter signed to "Dearest Trotty," Buena Park, 14 November, 1893, 2 pages, 8vo, tipped to a larger sheet , discussing his health; Autograph letter signed to his wife (Julia), Chicago, 7 November 1891, 1 page, 4to, corners slightly worn , a newsy letter about everyday events, "This afternoon Trotty has gone to a matinee..."; Autograph letter signed to his wife, London, 4 October 1890, 1 page, 4to, tipped to a larger sheet , a poignant letter in the wake of their young son's death: "I believe our boy is happy now. It is selfish to wish him back. Still his going takes from our lives so much, does it not..."; [Love Affairs of a Bibliomaniac, NY, 1896], 8vo, unbound proof sheets (no titlepage present), quarter blue morocco slipcase , signature "Julia S. Field" on first page, ANS of Eugene Field II laid in, dated 1923: "these proof sheets... were submitted to the Eugene Field estate, and have been in the Library of Eugene Field ever since..."; With a fragmentary ALS 1881 and a letter to Field, 1893; together 9 items .
