Obtained directly from the miner, who named the stone "Viana", this double-sided oval cabochon of chrysoberyl displays a strong, well-centered and distinct cat's eye effect at the apex of the dome. Its color is fine and desirable and was described as "milk and honey" by various prestigious gemologists. Upon examination, Steven Voynick, noted gemological and mineralogical writer, wrote in 1996, that "the cat's eye chrysoberyl that comes from the Barro Preto deposit shows a sharp, well-centered eye on a honey-coloured body that is so valued in fine cat's-eye chrysoberyl". He went on to describe it as "the finest milk-and-honey cat's eye chrysoberyl in existence." This fine, sizeable stone of exceptional color is worthy of the attention of the most serious collector.
