This copy is the first to ever be signed by Mosley with inscription, “For Dan Monte, / The first person / ever to request my / autograph. / Thank you / Walter S. Mosley / Oct. 13, 1990.” Accompanied by letter addressed to Monte, in apparent response to his autograph request, “You’re the first person to make such a request and I find that it’s one of the moments that lets me know that I’ve become what I wanted to be.
