FIVE EARLY JADE BIRD PENDANTS, SHANG/ZHOU DYNASTY (1600-771BC) comprising a semi-transluscent cream jade pendant, mostly calcified, carved as an owl in profile with incised eye and beak detailing, drill hole to top of head; a transluscent light yellow-grey pendant, mostly calcified, carved in profile with a long raised tail, incised detailing to the eye and back, drill hole to lower projection; a light brown jade bird pendant in profile, drill hole to chest, cinnabar remains to surface; a dark celadon jade bird pendant in profile, drill hole to chest; and a pale celadon jade bird head pendant, with incised head detailing, drill hole to tip of head; a transluscent pale green pendant shaped as a preying mantis re-carved from a fragment, cinnabar deposits -- The first, 1 5/8in. (4.3cm.) high. (6)
