Flandin was known chiefly as a painter, he exhibited successfully at the Salon between 1836 and 1838. The folio volume of tinted lithographed views "Perse moderne. Planches" was sold in 20 parts for a total of 400fr. The remaining section, 4 volumes of plates and 1 volume of text recording the art and architecture of ancient Persia, was issued in 50 parts for a total of 1000fr.
