FLORENCE]. Uffici della città di Firenze . [Florence: Nicolaus Laurentii, Alamanus, ca.1485-86]. Chancery 4° (206 x 136mm). Collation: [a 6 ]. 6 leaves. 26 lines. Type: 7:111R. One 2-line initial space. (First leaf detached, light spotting.) Unbound, in a specially made folder covered with a vellum MS. antiphonal leaf. ONLY 15TH-CENTURY EDITION and one of only four copies recorded. There are two copies in the Biblioteca Nazionale at Florence and one in the Biblioteca Palatina at Parma. As its title indicates, this pamphlet lists administrative offices in Florence. Ranged in columns against each office are the amount of salary attached to the position, the tax, and the "rifiuti", which was a tax levied when one refused to take up the office. The nature of such information can only be short-lived and is thus essentially ephemeral, making the survival of this printed edition all the more noteworthy. The only copy known to have been offered on the market was that listed in a Baer & Co. (Frankfurt) catalogue in 1926, which is probably the present copy. HR 7157; GW 10047; IGI 3974.
