Together with an affidavit from George Franklin LUNAR SURFACE EXPERIMENT PACKAGES were used on all of the Apollo lunar landing missions, and consisted of a group of experimental devices deployed on the lunar surface. These included an Active Seismic Experiment, Charged Particle Lunar Environment Experiment, Cold Cathode Ion Gauge, Lunar Atmosphere Composition Experiment, and others. One of these, the Laser Ranging Retroreflector, is still in use today to measure differences in distance between the Earth and the Moon due to irregularities in the Moon's orbit.
