FOUNTAINE, Sir Andrew (1676-1753)] -- A manuscript, in two parts, titled An Inventory of the Goods and Effects of the late Sir Andrew Fountaine Knight Deceased at his late House at Narford in the County of Norfolk , and A Catalogue of the Library together with the Manuscripts &c: at Narford . [n.p.: n.d. but 1753 or later]. Small 2° (318 x 195mm). Title, 39pp.; title, 80ll. (recto only), 6pp. In a single scribal hand, inscribed at the end of each section in a second hand 'Errors Excepted W: Price', with later additions and deletions in various hands (including two later inserted leaves with entries including works published to 1774). Original vellum-backed marbled boards (somewhat scuffed). Provenance : Captain William Price (inscriptions, father of:); Brigg Fountaine (d.1825, né Price, heir of Sir Andrew Fountaine ; Andrew Fountaine (1770-1830). A smaller version of the preceding lot: an important detailed inventory of the contents of Narford, apparently compiled at the time of the death of Sir Andrew. The first section systematically lists the contents of each room (china, glass, pictures, furniture, etc). The second part (listing the books) has apparently been used to record a reorganisation of the library with many of the original entries pasted over them and the new entry added.
