Four lacking copies of books from the 17th century: 1. Yosef Lakach, commentary on Megillat Esther, by Rabbi Eliezer Ashkenazi son of R' Elya the physician. Cremona, [1576]. Printed by Christoforo Draconi. First edition [that same year, a second edition was printed in Cremona]. The first book of Rabbi Eliezer Ashkenazi, author of Ma'ase Hashem, printed in his lifetime. This composition on Megillat Esther is the basis of the Vilna Gaon's commentary on the Megillah [recently, both commentaries were printed together to assist in distinguishing the commentary augmented by the Vilna Gaon]. In the author's introduction to the book, Rabbi Eliezer Ashkenazi alludes to his travels from Egypt and to his temporary residence on the Island of Famagusta, and about his salvation. "The king elevated His Majesty Don Yosef Nasi and appointed him to the high position of…Duke and Minister". Ownership inscription on title page: "…Refael Rovigo". 1-4, 9-83 leaves. Leaves 5-8 are lacking and were replaced with handwritten leaves (in Italian Hebrew script). 19.5 cm. Condition varies, good-fair. Stains and wear. Tears to several leaves. Heavy stains and worming to several leaves at the end of the book. Old, worn binding. 2. Midrash Shmuel, commentary on Pirkei Avot [with the full text and Rashi commentary], by Rabbi Shmuel di Ozida. Venice, [1600]. Printed by Daniel Zanetti. 2-3, 5-251, [1] leaves. Originally: 251, [1] leaves. Lacking title page and another leaf. Open tear on Leaf 89. 19 cm. Good-fair condition. Stains and wear. Contemporary binding, damaged and loose. 3. Olat Tamid, commentary on the Torah, by Rabbi Moshe Albilda. Venice, [1601]. Printed by Daniel Zanetti. Only edition. Ownership inscriptions: "This book belongs to Rabbi Eliezer Yitzchak", "…Eliezer Yitzchak Cohen…". 231 leaves. Lacking [4] last leaves of index. 29 cm. Good condition. Stains.
