Cloth-backed pictorial boards. Seventh Edition, Revised. (Dampstaining to covers and interiod pages, thus good only). Bombay: Thacker & Co., 1935. Peel, Cecilia. A group of four Raj-era Indian cookbooks by ex-pats, with Indian recipes spicing up duller English fare. Peel's book contains an entire chapter describing Indian curries; Mrs. Bartley's contains instructions for preparing cow's heart, poaching egg curry, bread with plantain yeast, etc. The remain two also contain a plethora of Indian recipes, as well as instructions for the servants, and more, which paint a picture of life in India at the time.
