FRANCESCO BARTOLOZZI AFTER HANS HOLBEIN THE YOUNGER, EIGHTEEN 'IMITATIONS OF ORIGINAL DRAWINGS BY HANS HOLBEIN' EARLY 19TH CENTURY AND LATER A matched set of eighteen stipple engravings after the originals "In his Majesty's collection", to include, Lady Buts, Mary Queen of Scots, Anne Bolein etc., in matching plain black 'Hogarth frames, gilt slips, glazed, some named to the plate, most detailed to lower margin "Published as the Act directs (asstd dates) by I. Chamberlaine, Brompton, Middlesex", slight size variants the largest frame 53 x 42cm, the smallest frame 43 x 37cm (Please see condition report for full list of subjects and sizes) Provenance: Possibly Lord Halifax Condition Report: Condition Report: Condition Report: From the colour variance of paper used (pinkish through to paler whites)- would suggest that this a a partially matched run- with dates from the early 19th century onwards. Colour variance and muting from differing levels of exposure to sunlight- some paper undulation and scattered spotting in varying degrees. Frames with wear and some losses and rubbing several with later metal coated plastic or foam backing List- all sizes are the overall size of the frames; Lady Buts 53 by 40.5, Russell Ld Privy Seale, 51 by 41, Lady Barkley 51.5 by 38, Thomas Earl of Surry 43 by 37 (spotting), Montmorenci 49 by 37, Gage 53 by 42 (foxing and spotting), The Lady Rich 52 by 42, Southwell 50 by 39.5, Edward Prince 46 by 39.5, Anne Bollein Queen 47 by 37, Armagnac 47 by 35, Russel E of Bedford 44 by 34.5, unnamed man 45 by 37, Mary Queen of Scots 48 by 37, Edward Prince of Wales 46 by 39.5, unnamed man 49.5 by 38, John More 52 by 41, Lady Meutas 47 by 37.5 Condition Report Disclaimer
