Edinburgh: Oliver and Boyd, 1834. 12 (162 x 100mm). 13 wood-engraved plates and illustrations, including vignette on half title. (Occasional browning.) Modern blue half calf. FIRST EDITION, issued as volume XV of the Edinburgh Cabinet Library series. At the time of publication, Fraser had made only one journey to Persia, with Dr. Jukes, in 1821-22. But he was a resourceful enough writer to make his experience the basis of the above compendium, as well as two travel books published in 1825 and 1826 (see the two previous lots) and two romances published in 1828 and 1830.
