Letters signed as Minister of Police 'au bureau central du canton de Paris', 12 ventose l'an 4' [2 March 1798] , 'La Cocarde tricolore, Citoyens, est a jamais consacrée par la choix de la Nation: l'ami de la liberte se plait a se parer de ce signe cheri de sa gloire ... ceux qui s'y refusent ne peuvent donc être que des ennemis de l'ordre et de la liberte', and quoting from the decree of 5 July 1792, 3 pages, 4to , printed heading, contemporary annotations; FOUCHE, Joseph (1759-1820). Autograph letter signed as Minister of Police to the commander of the gendarmerie at Cologne, 8 April 1800 , acknowledging a report referring to a brigade between the Meuse, Rhine and Moselle, and complaining about the arbitrary action of the commissioner who had released eight vagabonds who were under arrest, 'Je ne puis qu'applaudir a l'esprit de subordination qui regne dans la division que vous commandez', and promising the authority will be notified, 1½ pages, 4to , address leaf; COUTHON, Georges. Autograph annotation signed on a letter concerning promotion (1793); LA REVELLIERE-LE PEAUX, Louis Marie (1753-1824). Autograph letter signed recommending a young man who has studied diplomatic affairs, with endorsement by Charles Delacroix (1796); and another on administrative matters, 2 pages, 4to ; and other letters by Richard, Cambacères, Cabanis (2), Marshal Bertrand (a brief note scribbled in pencil, faded), Thibaudeau, Môlé, and approximately 14 others ( after 1795 ) on political, administrative and personal matters, together approximately 25 items, 30 pages, mostly 4to and folio , 10 with vignette headings, address leaves.
