Album.- French School (circa 1820-1830).- An extensive and highly decorative collector's album, containing an array of British and continental prints and watercolours of regional and fashionable costume, portraiture, genre subjects, landscapes and sites of architectural interest, including two original watercolours of elegant French interiors signed by G. [?]Lescier, all interspersed with manuscript verses and riddles, both in English and French, and cut-out floral, fruit and bird ornament, engravings, stipple-engravings, lithographs, mezzotints, watercolours, all neatly cut-out or trimmed to image and laid onto approx. 75 album leaves, recto and verso, each leaf approx. 420 x 500 mm. (16 1/2 x 19 3/4 in), some album leaves watermarked 'H.&M.M. 1818', occasional surface dirt, full diced calf, worn, gilt-lettered label on upper board bearing the owner's name of 'Madame de Bonanny', upper joint broken, oblong folio, [circa 1820-1830 and later]. ⁂ A comprehensive and handsome example of an album compiled by a 19th century collector of both English and Continental works.
