Second edition of Frézier’s important account of his voyages to South America. Commissioned by the French government to chart the western coast of South America, the author brought back significant scientific as well as geographic information about Chile, Peru and the wider region. First published in 1716, this edition is the first to include the reply to the criticisms of Father Louis Feuillée and a chronology of the viceroys of Peru. Hill 655; Sabin 25925. Provenance : ‘L.B.C. 1744’ (label on pastedown) – evidence of removed bookplate on front pastedown.
