FURBER, Robert (1674?-1756). [ Twelve Months of Fruits ]. Kensington: 1732. 9 hand-coloured engraved plates only (of 12) comprising: January, March, May, June, August-December, by G. Vander Gucht, H. Fletcher, C. DuBosc and James Smith after Peter Cassteels. (All slightly soiled, trimmed to platemark, occasionally affecting illustration, some tears.) Each approximatley 430 x 350mm. Furber was a Kensington market gardener whose intention was to produce a de luxe nurseryman's catalogue, the first ever to be produced in England. As with his series of flowers for sale at his nursery, the plates of fruits, 364 varieties over the twelve months are artistically arranged and numbered with a key at the foot.
