Title: George Gershwin's Songbook - inscribed Author: Gershwin, George Place New York Publisher: Simon and Schuster Date: 1932 Description: 167 pp. With photographic frontispiece, color illustrations by Alajalov. (4to), original two-tone tan cloth. First Edition. Boldly signed and inscribed by George Gershwin to producer Alfred E. Aarons on the front free endpaper: "For Alfred Aarons - the handsomest producer of all time. With my best wishes, George Gershwin Jan. 1933." A wonderful association copy. Alfred E. Aarons was the Broadway composer and producer, whose son Alex produced "La La Lucille," "Lady be Good," "Tip Toes," and most of Gershwin's other musicals well into the 1930s. Lot Amendments Condition: Rubbing, soiling, and some staining to cloth, chipping to spine ends; front hinge cracked and top board a bit loose, toning/offsetting to endpapers, interior sound; good.
