GHOUM Iran - 538 x 104 cm, Hand-knotted Oriental rug in wool, with central medallions, on a red and beige background and around floral borders. Sold with its certificate of authenticity, in very good condition. The rug is professionally cleaned. Can be collected on site. GHOUM: These rugs are made in the holy city of Ghom, in central Iran. The wool used is called kork wool and comes from the necks of lambs. It is used to spin extremely fine, strong yarns, giving a high density to the knotting. These rugs are wonderfully executed and, in some cases, richly detailed. This type of rug is proof of the fine tradition of silk weavers.
