Gilbert Laird Jessop. Gloucestershire, Oxford University & England, 1894-1914. Handwritten one page letter, on St George's, Dorchester headed paper, the letter dated 31st August 1948, to a Mr Moberly. 'I am glad you enjoyed the visit to Lord's. It was a great occasion to witness Bradman's farewell to the Premier Club. What a tremendous run getting machine he has been. I knew Russell Bencraft very well and served on many Committees with him- but I don't remember your Uncle "J.C."- Gloucester had W.O. Moberly- a master at Clifton- and he served on the Committee when I took over from "W.G." - "W.O." was a fine bat and shared in a partnership with "W.G." of over 200 runs. Tempus fugit [Time flies]. Nicely signed 'Gilbert L. Jessop'. Excellent letter from Jessop with very good cricket and W.G. Grace reference. G/VG. Sold with a Members Enclosure ticket for the Oxford v Cambridge match at Lord's, 6th July 1953, signed in ink by Jessop. VG. Qty 2
