GIOVIO, Paolo (1483-1552). Historiarum sui temporis . Paris: Michael Vascosanus, 1558-1560. 2 volumes, 2° (343 x 224mm). Ruled in red throughout, large ornamental woodcut initials and headpieces, with the blanks R5& R6 in vol. I and M8 and C6 in vol. II. (Margins of title in vol. I browned, small white mark on t4r and C5r affecting one letter, light marginal water-staining in both vols, small marginal dampstain at beginning of vol. II, very light even browning, occasional thumb-soiling.) Contemporary limp vellum with ties, panelled on sides with a gilt arabesque centrepiece, flat spines, ruled and decorated in gilt, gilt and gauffered edges decorated in black with a foliate design dated 1561 (covers slightly creased and a little soiled, lacking 4 ties, vellum with small split at front joint of vol. I).
