Read more Gloria Petyarre Lot 161 - 'Bush Medicine Dreaming (2007)' Estimate: €1,000 - €1,500 One of several Australian Aboriginal artists who gained international attention (visiting Ireland at one point) in recent decades, Gloria Petyarre was born in the Northern Territory. A niece of the great Emily Kame Kngwarreye she became involved with the Women's Batik Group from 1977 and in time also began painting on canvas. Her ravishing, colour-drenched, rhythmic compositions are in a sense abstract, but they are directly inspired by and based on plants used in traditional bush medicine in Australia, notably including the emu bush, a versatile sterilising agent.
