GOOS, PIETER (c.1616-1675) Zee Atlas Aquatique . Amsterdam: Jacobus Robyn, 1683. 2° (530 x 310mm). Hand-coloured Engraved frontispiece by P. Schenk after G. van Houten, 16 pages of text in Dutch, including index of 40 charts, 40 double-page engraved charts, hand-coloured in outline,HEIGHTENED IN GOLD THROUGHOUT, including the folding chart of the coasts of Zeeland and Flanders, mounted on guards throughout. (Occasional light marginal spotting, without dedication). Original publisher's vellum gilt, traces of green silk ties (slightly worn). A FINE HAND-COLOURED COPY OF THE ZEEATLAS - A UNIQUE COMPILATION OF CHARTS ENTIRELY BY GOOS. including world map and the 11 charts of the Americas. This copy conforms with Koeman. Goos 14 A, three dates are changed from 1669 to 1673 (Pas-Caart van de Oost Zee, Paskaarte om Achter Yrlandt, and Middelandsche Zee), and one to 1675 (Pascaarte van Engelant). This copy also includes three charts which are not listed in Koeman. Pascaerte van de Vlaemsche Eijlanden', 'Pascaerte van de soute eylanden...' and 'Pascaerte van Rio Gambia...'. Jacobus Robyn acquired the plates from Goos's Zeespiegal and Zeeatlas from his widow in 1680, which he used to enlarge his own atlas.
