'Grande Horloge': An important and monumental French ormolu, patinated bronze and Carrara marble figural pedestal clock Designed by Frédéric-Eugène Piat, Executed by Maison Millet, Paris, Circa 1890 The upper section with a laurel and rose-garlanded lyre-shaped clock surmounted by an Apollo sunburst mask, the twin-train movement stamped A. D. MOUGIN/DEUX MEDAILLES , supported below by a scantily-clad nymph, leaning up against a laurel-hung and ram's mask-mounted tapering pedestal, and standing on a goatskin-draped spreading fluted base, flanked to each side by an acanthus-cast scrolled volute and engraved to the centre MILLET/A/PARIS , on winged lion's paw and volute feet 106½ in. (270.5 cm.) high; 26¾ in. (68cm.) wide; 11¾ in. (29.8 cm.) deep
