Early 20th-century green half morocco, spines gilt, top edge gilt, by Bayntun (Riviere). A FINE SET, but without the rare fourth volume, parts I and II (begun in 1888). Nissen VBI 393; Zimmer p.274. [ With :] [Patrick SYME (1774-1845)]. A treatise on British song-birds. Edinburgh: A. Allardice for John Anderson jun. and Simpkin & Marshall of London, 1823. 8° (220 x 137mm). 15 hand-coloured engraved plates by R. Scott after "an English artist". (The 'Bullfinch' plate cut-down and mounted to size, repaired tear to half-title and text H1, some spotting.) Later half morocco gilt, top edge gilt, the others uncut (extremities scuffed). FIRST EDITION. "The plates are admirably engraved... from very correct and beautiful drawings done by an English artist": Mullens & Swann p.572; Nissen IVB 920; Zimmer p.621. (4)
