Che writes this note to a comrade as leader of a rebel training camp in the Sierra Maestra mountains near Minas del Frio. Che had met Raul Castro and his older brother Fidel in 1955 in Mexico City, and quickly joined the movement to overthrow the Batista government. After leading his training camp for most of 1958, Che would lead the attack on Santa Clara, one of the decisive events of the revolution. See illustration.
