Date: 1883 Description: [2], 281, xiii, [7] pp. Portraits and other plates. (8vo) original blue cloth. First Edition. Presentation copy inscribed on flyleaf by the author: "To Gen. W.S. Rosecrans, with the best wishes of Leonidas Le Cenci Hamilton" and with Rosecrans' ownership signature on title page. General Rosecrans, who was United States Plenipotentiary to Mexico, was heavily involved in business ventures in Mexico, including mining and railroad development, beginning in the 1860s. Views include: interior of cathedral of Mexico City, tropical scene, municipal palace, City of Durango birds-eye view, Aztec idol, smelting works of Durango Mapimi Mining Co., Cerro de Mercado in Durango, view of Pachuca, and an ancient Aztec temple. Lot Amendments Condition: fading and light wear to cloth, hinges cracked; very good. Item number: 212894
