Hancock, John A franking signature ("John Hancock") on a half-sheet (3 1/2 x 6 3/4 in.; 90 x 172 mm, sight), to the Assembly of the State of Virginia, docketed "Referr'd to a Comm of the whole upon the State of the Country, December 6, 1776;" fold-tear. Matted, glazed, and framed with a handcolored engraved portrait. — Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Document signed ("John Hancock") 1 page (11 1/2 x 8 1/8 in.; 292 x 206 mm), [Boston], 17 November 1792, being the appointment of Daniel Cony as an Elector in the Electoral College, counter-signed by John Avery Junior Secretary, papered seal; formerly folded, a few tears mended, some soiling. — Peter Thacher. Autograph letter signed ("Peter Thacher"), 3 pages plus integral address leaf (9 x 7 1/4 in.; 228 x 184 mm), Boston, 29 April 1787, to John Hancock; formerly folded, seal stain and small tear in fore-margin of address leaf. Thacher (1752-1802) reports the results of Hancock's election to the governorship of Massachusetts.
