Bazanaud, depicting an elderly black woman dictating a letter to a well-dressed young lady. The scene is after an oil on canvas executed in 1889 by American artist Harry Herman Roseland (1868-1950) entitled Writing the Letter. Marked below with the decal L.R.L (Lazeyras, Rosenfeld and Lehman) crown mark and hand-painted Dictant une lettre / d'apres Harry Roseland; 13.5" diameter. Condition: Light wear to gilding.
