HARDINGE, Hon Charles Stewart Recollection of India drawn on stone by J. D. Harding ... British India and the Punjab [ Kashmir and the Alpine Punjab ]. London: Thomas M'Lean, 1847 Two parts in one volume, large folio (543 x 410mm.), 26 lithographed plates after Hardinge, hand-coloured and heightened with varnish, all cut round and mounted on card without signatures, with plate title pencilled on mount, except plate 18 which has title printed on plate surface, mounted on guards (some spotting mostly affecting plate mounts). Contemporary purple half morocco and green moiré boards, large label lettered in gilt on upper cover, g.e. (extremeties slightly rubbed). Presentation inscription on first title "J. N. Gladstone from his affectionate Thos. Bateson, January 18th, 1849" Rare coloured issue with the plates mounted on card. cf Abbey Travel 472; Tooley 244
