Partly-printed document signed "P. Henry" granting Thomas Blanton 250 acres of land in Fayette County, Virginia .
Richmond, 16 September 1785. 1 page (18 ¼ x 14 ½ inches, 465x370 mm). Paper-covered wax seal intact, docketing on verso. Condition: Browning along the folds, separations along the folds repaired on verso, a few minor areas of loss along the folds. a land grant on the western frontier signed by henry as the governor of virginia. Fayette County was among the three counties formed by Virginia in 1780 and encompassed the area north and east of the Kentucky River. At the time of this land grant, Daniel Boone counted among its settlers. In 1792, the counties of the region separated from Virginia and formed the state of Kentucky.
