'Honeysuckle', an Arts & Crafts embroidered curtain or wall hanging by Morris & Co., designed by William Morris worked by Jane and Jenny Morris, floss silk on printed linen, green cotton backed, remains of label verso, 267cm x 150cm Exhibited: The first Arts and Crafts Exhibition, 1888; sent by May Morris to the British & Irish Arts & Crafts Exhibition, Paris 1914 (worn label stitched verso). See Parry, Linda (editor) 'William Morris 1834-1896' Victoria & Albert Museum exhibition catalogue 1996, p. 242, cat. M.18, illustrated. See also Parry, Linda 'William Morris Textiles' New York 1994, p. 19, 29 and 150. Honeysuckle was a printed design, registered 11th October 1876 and block printed by Wardle Lots 75 to 220 are from the collection of Laurence W. Hodson (1863-1933) and thence by descent.
