INCUNABULA -- A collection of incunable and early-printed leaves, most printed c.1476-c.1500 and a few within the first quarter of the 16th century, in various places including Basel, Nuremberg. 26 leaves from 8 works (132-200mm x 100-290mm), most rubricated, some with coloured initials, pen-and-ink, or colour, and some with coloured tabs (a very few with light worming or faint dampstaining).
INCUNABULA -- A collection of incunable and early-printed leaves, most printed c.1476-c.1500 and a few within the first quarter of the 16th century, in various places including Basel, Nuremberg. 26 leaves from 8 works (132-200mm x 100-290mm), most rubricated, some with coloured initials, pen-and-ink, or colour, and some with coloured tabs (a very few with light worming or faint dampstaining). The leaves include the full-page woodcut with contemporary hand-colour of the tree of consanguinity from Andreae's Super Arboribus Consanguinitatis (Nuremberg: Creussner, c.1476; Goff Suppl. 604a); a leaf from Caraccioli's Quadragesimales de poenitentia (Basel: Richel, not after 28 Oct. 1475; GW 6071) with a charming, unsophisticated pen-and-ink border with birds and a woman in profile; the title and 4 leaves from St Cyrillius's Speculum Sapientie (c.1500); and others, mostly from devotional works. Together with a bifolium from a Coptic manuscript with parallel text in Arabic (worn). (9)
