Quanah Parker's home, located approx. 3 miles north of Cache, OK, was a well-kept residence that featured a red roof decorated with white stars. Purportedly, the stars were included to honor Texas, the "Lone Star State," where Parker's mother Cynthia Ann died and was buried. This particular photograph must have been taken before the roof was painted. The house was built for Parker by S.E. Burnett, a wealthy Texas cattleman and banker, along with other cattlemen. The lumber for the home was hauled from Vernon, TX, and the house consisted of 22 rooms. The home was sometimes referred to as the White House of the Comanche reservation. Condition: Photograph and mount near excellent.
