Tumarmani Date: 1741 Description: [viii], 758, [1], 380, [2] pp. Two numbered columns per page. Illustrated with title page engraving and a few text illustrations. (Folio) 36x24 cm (14x9"), modern cloth, gilt spine. Henry Noris, or Enrico Noris, was an Italian church historian, theologian and Cardinal. In 1692 Noris was made assistant Librarian in the Vatican by Pope Innocent XII. The Librarian at the time was Cardinal Girolamo Casanata, who had supported Noris when he was brought before the Inquisition. On 12 December 1695, Noris was named Cardinal-Priest of the Title of Sant'Agostino. In 1700, on the death of Cardinal Casanate, he was given full charge of the Vatican Library. This volume from the library of the Mt. St. Alphonsus Seminary in Esopus, NY. Lot Amendments Condition: Wear, soiling and fading to cloth; interior clean with a bit of rippling, spots of foxing to edge of page block; very good. Item number: 278606b
