Massenet, Jules. MANON, [VOCAL SCORE WITH TEXT IN ITALIAN], THE ENGRAVED PROOF OF ACTS 1 & 2, WITH REVISIONS AND ALTERATIONS BY THE COMPOSER, PARIS: G. HARTMANN, [1891] inscribed by Massenet on the front wrapper ("partition avec suppression des rôles de Poussette, de Javotte et de Rosette, coupures &a &a....pour L'Italie, J. Massenet, Paris Juillet 1891"), and revised by him in red ink and blue crayon, occasionally in pencil, including additional music written on the staves, cuts made by pinning pages together, annotations ("voir les vocalises chantées par Mlle Sibyl Sanderson"), and stage directions, 184 pages only, 4to (c.28 x 19cms), half-title and blank, engraved music, plate no. G.H. 1528, title-cut down and laid onto front wrapper, publisher's stamp on front wrapper ("G. Hartmann Éditeur..."), lacking other preliminaries and all after page 184 (start of Act 3)
