tandem surfing, makaha beach, judy dibble, bob moore momi adachi, rabbit kekai,1963
Unique silver gelatin print, printed later, signed, titled and dated on mount, dry mounted on modern board with certificate of authenticity on verso, framed, 30x40cm (12x16in.). A rare collection of photographs by Jack Eden, offered for the first time at auction. Eden began documenting Australia's surf scene during the 1950s, capturing the optimism of beach life; it's fashions, cars and characters, to be published in his magazine 'Surfabout'. This series offers a remarkable photographic history of surfing in Australia, from its roots in teenaged hedonism to its pinnacle at the First World Surfing Championship held at Manly in 1964. Only three prints of each photograph were ever made by Eden, one for Museum Collections, one for his family, and those included in the auction.
