JACK YEATS, LENNOX ROBINSON and "ADMIRATIONS" NO. 1.: COLONEL MAURICE MOORE AND SENATOR W. B. YEATS Isa M. Macnie "Mac" (1869-1958)
Signature: the first two initialled "I.M.M" and inscribed lower centre; the third signed " Mac" lower right Medium: pen and ink with watercolour on paper, unframed (3) Dimensions: 23 by 18cm., 9 by 7in. All three works measure 9 by 7 inches. At the age of fifty Isa Macnie, a long standing member of the Dublin United Arts Club, took to drawing caricatures of artistic, literary and political people of ... her day. They became an instant success among her circle of friends, and in 1925 she issued a limited edition book of 200 hand-coloured copies under the title, The Celebrity Zoo. These three sketches are rare surviving examples of the work of this Dublin eccentric (see Snoddy, p. 401) more
