JAN FRANS I. VAN BREDAEL (1686–1750) LANDSCAPE WITH FIGURAL STAFFAGE Starting price: 95 000 CZK (3 585 EUR) Hammer price: 110 000 CZK (4 151 EUR) Description dimensions: 23 x 33,8 cm (h x w) period: First half of the 18th century, Flanders This cabinet oil painting, which Dr. Seifertová considers to be an interesting collector's piece, is from the oeuvre of important Flemish painter Jan Frans van Bredael, who built on the Brueghels' landscape compositions. The overall layout into clearly-divided horizontal planes and the integration of the figural staffage creating a vibrant scene, both offer compelling proof that the painting was made by Van Bredael. The meticulous painting and clear light permeating through the entire scene are also characteristic for Van Bredael. Expert assessment: PhDr. Hana Seifertová. Oil on wood, unsigned.
