Text in German. 2 engraved architectural and allegorical titles, hand-coloured and heightened in gold, 245 hand-coloured engraved maps, including two folding, two engraved plates in text with diagrams, woodcut initials and tailpieces, mounted on guards throughout. (Some browning, mainly to text block, affecting a few maps only, a few marginal repairs; vol.1, title with minor repair at plate edge, small hole to one map (125), minor offsetting to map 99; vol 2., repaired tear touching image of map 65.) Original publisher's vellum panelled in gilt, gilt edges (some spotting and light scuffing, vol. 1 with spine restored with loss). Provenance : (armorial blindstamp to front pastedowns of both volumes and front flyleaf of vol. 1). FIRST EDITION IN GERMAN OF THE ATLAS NOVUS , WITH FINE CONTEMPORARY HAND-COLOURING THROUGHOUT.
