Sculpture - Fountain - Bronze - Green patina - Sig. - With stamp "Bronze Romain & Fils" - Ex. nr. 2/5 - 290 x 125 x 125 cm
Literature "Folon. La mia Firenze" Marilena Pasquali, Noèdizioni, Firenze 2005, cf. p. 31 (ill. of a smaller version at the exhibition at Forte Belvedere in Firenze in 2005) "Folon. Sculpturen" Ed. Snoeck, Ghent 2008, cf. p. 221 (ill. of a smaller version at the exhibition at Forte Belvedere in Firenze in 2005) BEWARE OF WET FEET! He stands straight as an arrow, his head held high, proudly showing us his extraordinary catch. Jean-Michel-Folon's emblematic gentleman wearing a hat and a long coat greets us like an old friend. His familiar appearance seems a pictogram that is part of our collective memory. We can bump into him anywhere, because he is always on the move. To where? Who's to say ... The slightly eccentric fellow is always sitting on a bench, walking in the park, watching the birds, sitting on the beach with his feet in the sea. Or standing like a fountain in a pond. Folon makes sturdy sculptures in solid bronze. After all, they have to be resistant. They don't have the intention to stand in a dusty museum hall, but to interact with nature and the elements. The sculptures defy wind and weather, sun and rain, sea and forest. What a surreal sight ! This distinguished gentleman with his feet in the wet holding fish in his arms. The fountain splashes water, which is one of Folon's favorite elements thanks to its particular impact on the patina and the way it is playful and elusive. The man becomes one with his environment, one with the water and the water becomes part of the work of art.
