Jugge] Date: [1574] Description: Leaves 137-150 [misnumbered 145] (Ss8, Tt6). Text in 2 columns, 63 lines, black letter. Half-page Woodcut initials. (folio) 34.7x23.3 cm. (13¾x9¼"), modern boards with paper cover label. Complete text of the Book of Job, from an early folio edition of the Bishops' Bible. Produced under the authority of the established Church of England in 1568, the Bishops' translation was substantially revised in 1572, and this revised edition was the base text for the Authorized King James Version of 1611. STC 2109; Herbert 137. Lot Amendments Condition: Some soiling, wear to some fore-edges with neat archival repairs/reinforcements; very good. Item number: 285333a
