CGC certified: F/VF (7.0). Off-white to white pages. Script: Nat Schachner. Art: Jack Alderman. Not listed in Overstreet. GPAnalysis: CGC Census: Seven graded copies, including all variants. Only one recorded sale: 4.5 copy sold for $314 in June 2021. Rare giveaway commissioned by a New York organization called the National Labor Service. The contents were originally serialized in union newspapers for an adult readership, then repackaged as a giveaway comic for younger readers. Because the story was originally written for adults, its treatment of of racial violence by the Reconstruction-era Ku Klux Klan is arguably the strongest handling of such material in midcentury comics outside of Al Feldstein's Shock SuspenStories "preachies." A limited edition of 150 softcover and 15 hardcover catalogues is available. 400 lots, fully illustrated. Fun reference, great keepsake. Softcover $30, deluxe hardcover with dust jacket and limitation plate $200. Ten of the 15 hardcovers are pre-ordered and the rest will go quickly, so reserve yours now. To order, contact [email protected] . Consignments welcome for PBA's December 2021 Comic Book sale. Top prices for Pre-Code Horror, Golden Age, Silver Age, original art and ephemera.
