Johann Ernest Hebenstreit (1703-1757) Museum Richterianum continens fossilia animalia vegetabilia Mar... accedit de gemmis scalptis antiquis. Leipzig: Bernh. Christoph. Breitkopf for Caspar Fritsch, 1743. 2° (389 x 248mm). Half-title, title in red and black with engraved vignette, text in Latin and German. Engraved double-page view of the interior of the 'museum', 16 engraved plates, 14 engraved head- and tailpieces. (Lacking portrait). Contemporary calf, spine gilt in seven compartments with raised bands, red morocco lettering-piece in the second, the others with repeat decoration in gilt (joints split, extremities rubbed). Provenance : ink ownership stamp on title; early ink note on front free endpaper. An extensive catalogue, including a fine interior view, of the 'cabinet of curiosities' of Johann Christoph Richter. including a final chapter on antique cameos and carved gemstones by J.F. Christio. Nissen ZBI 1869.
