1½pp., 8vo, Paris, 7 rue Edmond Valentin, 1937, sending his condolences on the death of John Drinkwater, “My wife and I were both shocked and grieved to hear of the afflictions which have fallen on you. I met him [Drinkwater] first ten years ago and had the pleasure of meeting him and talking with him at several meetings but one needed to meet him only once to feel that one was in the presence of a kindly, courteous and honourable nature: and I am sorry that the circumstances of our lives did not grant me the pleasure of meeting him more frequently”, folds, small pen mark under address, date slightly smudged ; 4 photographs (2 of James Joyce, one with Joyce and Drinkwater, and the second, a group comprising Joyce, Kathleen Maxwell, Daisy Kennedy, Nora Joyce and John Drinkwater), Joyce photographs captioned “Salzburg” and with names of group, and 2 other photographs, views of Königssee (Bavaria), all four mounted on a single album leaf, each 105 x 60mm., [1928], v.s., v.d.
