This edition appeared ten years before the first edition in Hebrew, which was published in Mantua in 1562. It 'had a greater influence on the development of the Jewish mind than almost any other book after the completion of the Talmud' (Jewish Encyclopedia, 1906). The third mentioned is the rare first edition of an important cabalistic text. Provenance: John Ker, 3rd Duke of Roxburghe, with gilt crests to covers.
